How To Apply - Overview |
| |
| |
We are committed to making a Northeastern education affordable to every student. Regardless of your family income, consider applying for financial aid. Northeastern offers more than $70 million in grant and scholarship assistance, participates in all federal aid programs, and offers an array of alternative financing and payment plans designed to meet your needs.
We take many factors into consideration, including financial need and academic promise, when determining our awards. It is the intent of the university to meet as much of a student's financial need as available funds will allow. |

Who Should Apply? |
| |
Qualifying for financial aid depends on a number of factors. The only way to know if you will be eligible for grants, federal work-study, loans, and scholarships is to apply for aid. Regardless of income and assets, many options are available to help pay educational expenses.
All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive federal funding. Northeastern's FAFSA Code is #002199. Additional requirements vary depending on student type.

Have You Received My Application? |
| |
We do not begin downloading student applications until after the priority filing date (2/15 for incoming students, 3/1 for returning students). To check to see that we have received your FAFSA (and PROFILE for incoming students), log into your myNEU account. Financial Aid information is available under the Self-Service tab. |

Early Action Applicants |
| |
A non-binding Early Action decision is available to prospective students who have submitted an admission application by November 1st. Under this option, applicants receive a decision — admitted for the fall semester, deferred to the regular admissions pool, or denied — by December 31st. Students admitted under Early Action are not required to enroll; however, if you choose to enroll, a tuition deposit is due by May 1st.
If you have applied for an Early Action admission decision, and are interested in financial aid, you should file the CSS PROFILE, available online at profileonline.collegeboard.com by December 1st. You will receive a tentative financial aid award at the same time as your admissions decision. To finalize your financial aid award prior to the May 1st deposit, you will also need to file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov, after January 1st. |

This is the date your application must be received by the processor, not the postmark date. Missing the priority filing date may mean that less financial aid will be available to you. This encompasses all types of assistance, including university based funds. However, you may still apply for aid at any time during the school year, and you will be reviewed for all financial aid opportunities for which you qualify. |
